Mikhail Rozanov

Mikhail Rozanov is one of the most famous modern photographers with a recognizable style and choice of subjects, working mainly in monochrome. His works are distinguished by extreme minimalism, academic rigor and restraint. Since 1995 Mikhail Rozanov's works have been regularly exhibited in Russia and abroad. The photographer takes part in various international biennials and fairs. He is a member of the Union of Photographers of Russia. Since 2015 he has been working exclusively with Ruarts.

The post-war years of the 20th century seem more like an era of reconstruction of large cities with a radical change in their structure, avant-garde breakthroughs, a different attitude to functionality, and the use of new materials and structures. At the exhibition "Steel. Glass. Concrete." presents photographs of European modernist architecture of the 1950s-1980s, taken from 2018 to 2020 in Madrid, London, Paris, Rotterdam, Milan, Berlin, Belgrade, Helsinki and Moscow.

The architecture of modernism of the 1950s-1980s is defined as the "great style" of Europe, capturing the post-war feeling of optimism, the desire for simplicity of form, clarity of proportions. In the halls of the Museum of Architecture, shots from different cities of Europe are mixed up, inviting the viewer to comparison and reflection.

The exhibition of Mikhail Rozanov reflects the author's perception of buildings and structures, the same age as he is, and in the environment of which he formed his own style: deliberately geometric, brutal, monochrome, perfecting perspective and composition, contrast of light and shadow.
