Carte Blanche XVIII
For the recently published second monograph, Buchner Bründler has comprehensively portrayed a selection of conversions and new buildings. A supplementary post-production resulted from the collaboration with the book designers Ludovic Balland and Annina Schepping. In the form of independent image series, the main characteristics and conceptual drivers of a respective architectural concept are presented in greater depth. Chronological texts on the locations form a third, associative level, with which the buildings are embedded in their cultural context.
The three narrative levels, which – due to the form of the book – have to be freely combined, enter into a direct dialogue in the exhibition. For the same selection of projects, prismatic pictorial spaces – similar to actual triptychs – are created in order to create a simultaneity. They directly scale the two-dimensionality of the book into space.
