The Federal Foundation for Building Academy is pleased to present and publicly showcase the student work of Prof. Rebecca Chestnutt from the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences, Chair of Design and Design Theory, Prof. Peter Apel from the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Chair of Design and Building Construction, and Prof. Elisabeth Broermann and Prof. Adrian Nägel from the Technical University of Berlin, Department of Architecture for Health/Future, as part of an exhibition.

At the opening on May 15, 2025, after a brief welcome by the founding director of the Federal Foundation for Building Academy, Prof. Dr. Guido Spars, students will discuss their thoughts and approaches to the task with Members of Parliament Lars Rohwer (CDU) and Member of Parliament Kasem Taher Saleh (Alliance 90/The Greens), both members of the Federal Foundation for Building Academy's Board of Trustees, as well as Achim Wollschläger, the Foundation's Construction Officer, who will address the project.

Lars Rohwer, Member of the Bundestag (CDU), Member of the Board of Trustees of the Federal Foundation for Building Academy: "With the future Building Academy, we must create a building that, as a central discussion platform and showcase, deeply anchors the transformational issues of the construction industry in society at large. The students have also addressed the question of a consistently open building and formulated initial solutions. I look forward to discussing the designs."

Kassem Taher Saleh, Member of the Bundestag (Alliance 90/The Greens), Member of the Board of Trustees of the Federal Foundation for Building Academy: "The future Building Academy building should be constructed in a resource-efficient manner and meet climate-friendly standards not only during construction, but throughout its entire life cycle. I am pleased that the students have also given intensive thought to reuse standards and circularity in their concepts."

Achim Wollschläger, Foundation Officer for Construction at the Federal Foundation for the Academy of Architecture: "The thematic focuses and approaches to the tasks are very broad. Some have explored the various historical layers of the site. Others focused more on the construction of a flexibly usable building or the question of designing the building within planetary boundaries. In reflecting on our own building project as a federal demonstration project for innovative, sustainable, and climate-friendly construction, the students' designs are very important contributions to us."

In the course of their semester projects, the next generation of architects asked themselves the following questions:

What must the building of an institution that is addressing the future of construction be able to achieve?
How does it simultaneously do justice to the historical legacy of Schinkel's Academy of Architecture and the innovative spirit of Karl Friedrich Schinkel?
How much construction is possible within planetary boundaries?
How must construction be done to achieve the goals of the construction revolution?

The exhibition can be viewed from May 16 to 18, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is not required.

Opening: May 15, 2025, 6 p.m.
