Munich Demolition Issues
The demolition of buildings is unecological, wastes gray energy, and still occurs far too frequently in Germany. From June 13 to July 4, 2025, contributions from the recently published book "The Demolition Question" will be on display in the atrium of the Munich University of Applied Sciences. The exhibition tells Munich demolition stories, provides information on deconstruction techniques and tools, and offers a critical, feminist perspective on the practice of architectural destruction. Furthermore, activist and architectural strategies for combating demolition will be presented. These contributions will be complemented by current works from the anti-demolition initiative "AbbrechenAbbrechen" and the architecture collective ANA, as well as by photographs of buildings threatened with demolition in Munich's urban space, which were taken during the current summer semester under the direction of Sebastian Schels.
