Architecture Laboratory

We invite you to the first exhibition in the history of our museum for children and adults telling the story of the extraordinary power of architecture! It is also one of the most important events of the 60th anniversary of the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław, celebrated this year!

"Architecture Laboratory" is the first exhibition in the history of the museum about architecture also - or maybe primarily! - addressed to children. However, it is much more than a story about buildings - it is a practical experience of the power of architecture. This exhibition is not only intended to expand knowledge, but also to build a sense of agency - to teach the youngest that the architecture surrounding them can and should respond to the needs of all users.

The titular laboratory will be a space for fun and learning, but above all - experiment. From June to the end of September 2025, in a former Gothic church, the youngest visitors together with their guardians will not only learn about architecture and the principles that govern it, but will also carefully experience it and learn how to co-create it.

The exhibition will consist of specially designed multi-sensory installations and interactive stations. They will enable a sensual experience of architecture through sight, hearing, touch and smell. They will reveal the secrets of the architect's workshop and technical aspects of construction to young and old explorers. They will provoke reflections on inclusiveness, ergonomics and the role of greenery in city architecture. The exhibition was designed in accordance with the principles of universal design. Therefore, it includes people with different needs and of different ages in the process and makes visitors aware that taking these needs into account should be an integral part of designing every space.

The exhibition is based on the educational program "Architecture Laboratory" implemented by the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław, awarded the Grand Prix and the first prize in the Education category in the competition for the Museum Event of the Year Sybilla 2022. The exhibition is accompanied by a book with exercises, which complements and extends the content presented at the exhibition.
