Peter Soriano

Mapping Mt. Kolsås

Affspace

Hours
Thu 5–8 pm Sat 9 am–2 pm

French-American artist Peter Soriano is creating the wall drawing Mapping Mt. Kolsås for Affspace, accompanied by works on paper. The installation continues his exploration of the transformations of northern landscapes—snow, glaciers, and ice.

The starting point is Claude Monet's 1895 trip to Norway. While Monet painted snowy slopes and vast skies, Soriano now documents urban suburbs and artificial snow piles at the foot of Mount Kolsås. The works thus address both the transience of natural forms and the impact of human intervention on landscapes. Soriano, who began as a sculptor, has been working with large-format wall drawings for years. His works combine precise observation with a structured, almost scientific approach.

Mapping Mt. Kolsås is an ongoing project; the final version will be exhibited at the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris in fall 2026.

Opening: September 18, 2025, 6 p.m.
