SAY
For the first time, Switzerland has its own architecture yearbook: "SAY Swiss Architecture Yearbook" was published for the first time in 2023 and will now be published every two years - in English and in three national languages. The traveling exhibition is now intended to fuel the architectural debate and ensure significantly better visibility and awareness of Swiss architecture in all its diversity, because SAY 2023 shows: It deserves it thanks to its density of quality that is perhaps unique in the world. In order to show this in its full range, not only the 36 selected objects from the book are on display in the exhibition, but all 129 nominated ones, so that visitors can form their own opinion and choose their favorite projects. But we will not only talk about architectural objects, but also about the burning questions of our time: how architecture deals with the climate crisis, the challenges of housing construction in an already densely populated country, and the conversion and reuse of existing buildings.
The heart of the exhibition is therefore the presentation of the original project boards, just as the selection committee experienced them: improvised and set up only for the moment of evaluation. Visitors to the exhibition are invited to slip into the role of the selection committee themselves, read the project boards and select the ten projects that convinced them the most. Since the creation process of the yearbook is the focus of the exhibition, the 36 projects selected by the selection committee that made it into the yearbook will also be presented separately. Of course, the publication "SAY 2023" can also be viewed in detail and purchased as part of the exhibition.
