Unreal Estate
It all begins with a decision: What are we building for – and for whom?
What happens when architecture escapes the dominant logics of exploitation and is conceived as a collective, open space?
Christoph Hesse Architects explores architecture not as a collection of objects for economic exploitation, but as a social practice: as places of shared design and self-efficacy, where spaces are participatory and created, transformed, and shared.
With offices in rural Korbach and urban Berlin, the team draws on the productive tension between rootedness and vision. The combination of local knowledge and forward-looking thinking forms the foundation of an architecture that enables participation and fosters identity.
The work of Christoph Hesse Architects can be summarized in two categories:
Perspective Changers are projects such as Open Mind Places, Open Chapel, and Stones Water Light – installations and buildings that inspire reflection and create new connections to nature and the common good.
System changers like Villa F, Ways of Life, and the House of Knowledge demonstrate architecture as a lever for structural change beyond conventional market logic.
Architecture is not what we capitalize on, but what we collectively make possible: as a space for connection with ourselves, others, and nature.
