TIMBER CONSTRUCTION AWARD KÄRNTEN 2025
The Carinthian Timber Construction Award recognizes outstanding achievements in timber construction and demonstrates the versatile and innovative uses of this building material. Sponsored by KELAG and presented every two years by proHOLZ Carinthia and Architektur Haus Kärnten, the exhibition offers an overview of current timber construction activities in Carinthia.
The expert jury – Johannes Kaufmann (architect, Vorarlberg), Sylvia Polleres (Holzforschung Austria, Vienna), and Willibald Longin (master timber builder, Lower Austria) – reviewed 77 submissions, nominated 25 projects, and honored 16 outstanding buildings in the categories of timber construction, special awards, export awards, and recognition.
Innovative, professional, and sustainable – these were the criteria used to evaluate the projects. The exhibition not only showcases all the submitted timber structures but also vividly illustrates the versatility of the building material, its structural design, practical application, and design potential. From new buildings, extensions, additions, and conversions to renovations and interior designs, as well as exceptional and experimental timber structures, visitors can discover the impressive diversity of timber construction and be inspired by the potential applications of this sustainable building material.
Look forward to a multifaceted cross-section of Carinthia's contemporary timber architecture and building culture – from functional solutions and pioneering design concepts to aesthetic and precise craftsmanship.
