Fix It!

The exhibition showcases architectural conversion projects from across Germany and impressively highlights the potential inherent in the continued development and creative use of existing buildings.

In a collaboration between Architects for Future Freiburg, the Perspektive Europaviertel initiative, Baukreisel, ANA, and the Freiburg Architecture Forum, we are expanding the conversion atlas of the Association of German Architects (BDA) with current examples from Freiburg. The Europaviertel (European Quarter), the Ganter site, the Stadthalle (City Hall), and the Dreisam Stadium serve as prime examples of locations with great potential – for conversion instead of demolition.

The exhibition and accompanying events will take place in the passage of the Karlsbau – a striking brutalist building from the 1970s, which itself will soon be undergoing conversion.
