Every two years, the state of Tyrol, together with the Chamber of Civil Engineers | Arch+Ing Tyrol and Vorarlberg - Architects' Section, the ZV - Central Association of Architects of Austria, the Tyrol State Association and aut. architektur und tirol, honors buildings constructed in Tyrol that address the architectural challenges of our time in a particularly exemplary manner, both in aesthetic and innovative terms.

From the 60 projects submitted for the "State of Tyrol Award for New Building 2024", the jury - Valentin Bearth (Bearth & Deplazes, Chur), Werner Neuwirth (architect, Vienna) and Helena Weber (Berktold Weber Architekten, Dornbirn) - inspected a shortlist of buildings over two intensive days in June and decided on 20 nominations.

"When we looked through the 60 submissions, we noticed that the range of projects was wide in terms of their different scales and themes. But we could also see that there was a serious discussion of the issues of the day, such as dealing with existing buildings, the question of resources, densification and, more generally, sustainability. With this in mind, we selected 20 projects that we visited on site over two days in order to critically examine them and reflect together on how the buildings react to the urban or site-specific context, how they were materialized, what detailed solutions were available and what architectural answer was given to the question posed."
