Infra.Novum
The exhibition focuses on the question of how massive infrastructure buildings such as water towers, silos, and ventilation structures can be reinterpreted, repurposed, and transformed.
The focus is on eight paradigmatic designs from a design studio at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Stuttgart, which last winter semester explored the topic of continuing to build on existing structures beyond classic building typologies. The studio examined distinctive infrastructure buildings – from dams and cooling towers to cement plants and relics of heavy industry. The projects reveal the architectural, spatial, and programmatic potential of these often-neglected structures, which oscillate between ruin aesthetics, brutalism, and narratives of technological progress.
Opening: February 4, 2026, 7 p.m.
