41 Jahre - 41 Objekte
To mark the relaunch of the German Architecture Museum on Schaumainkai, we're not only celebrating but also taking a brief look back. On June 1, 1984, almost exactly 41 years ago, the German Architecture Museum opened in Frankfurt. Such a span of time cannot be fully captured, so we've decided to highlight 41 highlights of the collection that has grown during this time.
The objects tell of the most important exhibitions – whether because they were particularly successful or attracted a particularly large number of visitors, or because they were important for the architectural discourse at the time. They sometimes stand alone, sometimes represent entire exhibition series or awards – such as the DAM Prize and the International Highrise Award. Some objects didn't even make it into the exhibition for which they were intended, but they tell quirky little stories. And with some objects, one wonders, without knowing which exhibition they found a place in, how they ended up in the DAM collection. From classic models and drawings to perfume, a Barbie, exhibition catalogs to browse through, and even an inflatable crocodile, everything is there.
