The stage is set for IBA Berlin 2034–37
The Internationale Bauausstellung (IBA Berlin 2034–37) is a key project in Berlin’s urban development. The Berlin Senate approved the IBA in 2026 with the aim of developing, implementing, and showcasing innovative solutions to the challenges faced by a growing, changing, climate-resilient, and sustainable Berlin.
IBA Berlin 2034–37 builds on the experiences of previous building exhibitions and focuses on the urban transformation of the built city. The central question is how Berlin can be designed sustainably under the conditions of climate change, land scarcity, and social transformation. Exemplary projects are being developed in the areas of renovation, expansion, and targeted new construction.
The IBA forges new connections between politics, administration, academia, business, and urban society, thereby enabling innovative and creative collaboration. It creates a framework in which new approaches are tested and concrete, exemplary projects are implemented.
