More is Now!

The exhibition on new Czech architecture, held in conjunction with the Czech Republic’s appearance as Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair, showcases innovative projects by young architects, primarily from the so-called millennial generation. It offers a unique opportunity to introduce the German public to the young Czech architectural scene—which has been little known until now—while also strengthening professional and cultural ties.

The exhibition builds on the modernist legacy—in particular, the Villa Tugendhat, built in Brno in 1929, which Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich designed and constructed in their forties as an iconic modernist structure. On display are around 30 outstanding buildings, primarily from regions outside Prague, thereby promoting a multi-regional approach to exploring the Czech Republic. The exhibition is curated by Helena Huber-Doudová of the National Gallery in Prague.

The project aims to highlight and celebrate contemporary Czech architecture in Germany as well as the German-influenced architectural heritage in Bohemia. The exhibition seeks international visibility and reach and brings together Czech, German, and international partners. There are plans to include the project in the traveling exhibition program of the Czech Centers.

The “More is Now!” project is organized jointly by the National Gallery in Prague and the German Architecture Museum (DAM) and supported by the German-Czech Future Fund.
