Egbert Kossak and His Era

An exhibition marking the 90th birthday of the former Director of Urban Planning for Hamburg (1981–1999). Egbert Kossak was a brilliant urban planner, and without him, Hamburg would look very different. To mark his birthday, this exhibition aims to show how he shaped Hamburg’s urban development with his knowledge, intellect, and communication skills—using what he loved most: drawing and photography.

To accompany the exhibition, the book *Egbert Kossak, the Hamburg Visionary* will be published on October 4, 2026. Edited by Dirk Meyhöfer. Featuring texts by over 20 colleagues, friends, and researchers from Hamburg and around the world. In collaboration with the Hamburg Chamber of Architects and the Hamburg Architecture Archive.
