Interim

Winterthur is undergoing a period of transition. In his photographic work and the book of the same name, "Interim," photographer Andreas Mader captures the city in its transitional states.

From 2018 to 2024, he photographed places of change and stagnation, places on the margins, in an intermediate state between architecture and nature, the mature and the new, planning, coincidence, and forgetting. Using Winterthur as a specific example, "Interim" points to general phenomena and is both an attempt and an invitation to sharpen one's own perception and to view the everyday urban space from a broader, visual perspective. With an essay by Andres Betschart and a poetic reflection by Peter Stamm, the book becomes a meditative exploration of time, place, and the traces we leave behind.
