Modelling Futures
The collective raumlaborberlin has been around for over 20 years, working at the intersection of architecture urban planning and art. They design temporary architectures in urban space that transform a street or square so that people want to stay and participate. Their structural additions are utilitarian architectures that create social interaction and turn passers-by into actors.
The exhibition at Haus Coburg is a rare opportunity to get to know the often temporary and locally scattered projects of recent years and to speculate about the future. A second leg of the collective's game is exhibition and stage displays that enable a staging in which the separation between performance and audience becomes blurred. Haus Coburg also becomes a performance venue. For the duration of the exhibition set-up, raumlaborberlin inhabits the Villa Coburg and sets up an infrastructure here that is part of the daily reproduction work. Evening parties will be held in this infrastructure during the course of the exhibition.
On four occasions, Haus Coburg invites you together with raumlaborberlin to the "Discursive Dinner." The focus is on cooking, eating and washing up together. Flanked by short lectures, the scenario aims at lively discussions around the topics: City centre, school and medical care.
30 people can participate at a time. If you would like to learn more about the raumlaborberlin collective, register for 23 September 2023. The future of inner cities and the relationship between urban and rural space is on the menu on 19 October 2023. We will discuss the situation of schools on 16 November 2023. Medical care will be on the table on 18 January 2024.
