Wooden paths
More and more buildings in Europe are being built from wood. From residential buildings to kindergartens to airship hangars, wood is used as a load-bearing building material. The exhibition "'Wooden Paths' - Sustainable Timber Construction in Central Germany" shows exemplary timber construction projects in and from Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.
The first stop of the traveling exhibition is the university library of the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK Leipzig) at Gustav-Freytag-Straße 40, where it will be on display from September 9 to October 1, 2024. All interested parties are cordially invited to the vernissage on September 9, 5:00 p.m. and the finissage on October 1, 5:00 p.m. The exhibition can be viewed during the library's opening hours (September 9 to 15: Mon-Fri 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., closed on Saturdays and from September 16: Mon-Fri 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).
Initiated by the Sustainable Planning, Construction and Certification Working Group of the Chamber of Architects of Saxony and in cooperation with the Chambers of Architects of Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, the exhibition aims to advance timber construction in our region. Architects were able to submit their projects until the end of April 2024. A five-member jury selected 38 pioneering works from the 72 submissions. The jury took into account projects submitted by offices from the three federal states mentioned as well as those that were realized in the three states.
Each of the selected projects will be presented in the traveling exhibition on a roll-up in German and English. The respective architects are also invited to the events at the various exhibition venues to present their projects.
Opening: 9.9.2024, 5 pm
