The Kunstmuseum Ahrenshoop constantly carries out its own research work in the collection inventory and in the run-up to special exhibitions. To support this work, a special library and an archive currently under construction are available. The library and archive are constantly being expanded through donations and the exchange of publications, among other things.
The key to the architectural concept for the new art museum lies in the history of the artists' colony in Ahrenshoop. Despite the unrestricted contemporaneity of the artists working here, a deep connection with the landscape and the architectural tradition of this region could be felt in both their works and their houses. The architectural concept developed by Staab Architects Berlin is an attempt to transform this rural building type into contemporary museum architecture.
