What are the reasons and motivations for living in the Swiss agglomeration or in the Swiss plateau? Are they more economically pragmatic reasons or a decision based on origin, connection or even a longing for a country life? The exhibition "Suburban Switzerland" in the Kornhausforum looks around the so-called country, in the agglomeration, especially in the Bernese plateau, but also in other places in Switzerland. In the first part of the exhibition in the town hall, the apparently typical residential and work architecture in the communities and the connections between politics, village development and settlement forms. And we show the importance of the hedge as an indispensable element of spatial organization.

From the functional plantings of the agglomeration, we go into the forests of the plateau, an amazing and seemingly untamed jungle right on our doorstep. Here you can breathe a sigh of relief and relax in the exhibition and, if you like, even meditate.

The second part of the exhibition in the gallery of the Kornhausforum focuses on the people and life in the agglomeration and rural communities. At the "Festival of Clubs" we give several clubs from different communities in the Bernese Mittelland the opportunity to present themselves and their activities in the Kornhausforum. The photos and objects on display show how important jointly organized activities are for living together and creating a social community in a community. The Kornhausforum thus becomes a place for exchange.
