Boltshauser Architects –
The installation showcases the diverse and innovative use of clay in their architecture, from the preparation of the material and the artistic and research-based approach to the finished building.
Since the late 1990s, Boltshauser Architects have been committed to establishing clay as a local and climate-neutral building resource, realizing numerous buildings and pioneering innovative applications.
Today, they are exploring the potential of clay in hybrid, broader applications in combination with other building materials, thereby advancing its scalability. In the laboratory of Roger Boltshauser's professorship at ETH Zurich, empirical experiences from practical application are scientifically validated, and research findings are fed back into the development of prototypes in practice. This feedback loop of teaching, direct experimentation, accompanying scientific analysis, and the willingness to disseminate newly acquired knowledge is crucial for establishing clay as a contemporary building material that, in addition to its ecological advantages, also meets today's requirements for safety and durability.
Opening: Thursday, November 13, 7 p.m.
With a greeting from Franz-Josef Höing, Chief Building Director of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
