The State Research Museum of Architecture named after A.V. Shchusev and the State Historical and Memorial Museum-Reserve "The Birthplace of V.I. Lenin" present the project "Masters of Simbirsk Art Nouveau", dedicated to the history of the development of the Art Nouveau style in the architecture of the provincial city of Simbirsk, modern Ulyanovsk.

Studying the architectural heritage of Russia at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries, one cannot ignore the work of talented architects and engineers who worked in the province. Simbirsk (since 1924 - Ulyanovsk) is a city that has preserved a large number of Art Nouveau monuments unknown to the general public and little studied by specialists.

Pre-revolutionary Simbirsk was one of the most beautiful cities in the Volga region. Its originality was largely determined by the city's location on the banks of the Volga, picturesque landscape, as well as the work of a whole galaxy of talented architects. The Art Nouveau buildings are the most spectacular and fully preserved part of Simbirsk's pre-revolutionary architectural heritage. The flourishing of urban development was associated with the strengthening of Simbirsk's commercial importance at the beginning of the 20th century, associated with the construction of a railway line and a bridge across the Volga.
