Don't Move, Improve! 2016
In a city of some 3 million households, the piecemeal adaptation of London’s existing housing stock is necessary to ensure their longevity as homes of the future. While house prices in the capital continue to spiral, expanding and adapting existing living spaces offers homeowners a real alternative to upsizing or moving on.
To achieve this, London’s architects must seek to respond with innovative, high-quality and contextual design – an endeavour supported by NLA’s annual Don’t Move, Improve! awards.
This exhibition celebrates the best of this year’s submitted projects, highlighting a range of solutions at a variety of budgets, and providing inspiration for anyone about to embark on their own home improvement. Organised in association with Dezeen, Heal’s and RIBA London, and sponsored by Axor Hansgrohe and Schueco, the awards seek out architectural innovation, from extensions on top of, underneath, on the side or back of buildings, to interior insertions, conversions, and garden studios.
The exhibition is open until late May, and is accompanied by a magazine and a series of free events.
