Heinrich Tessenow
The ZHAW's Department of Architecture, Design and Civil Engineering is celebrating the high level of architectural culture with a major exhibition on the German architect Heinrich Tessenow (1876–1950). His works are characterized by simplicity, economy, and dignity – values that remain relevant today. The exhibition, which has previously been shown in Mendrisio, Dresden, and Dortmund, is now making its final stop in Winterthur. This offers a unique opportunity to gain a comprehensive insight into Tessenow's work.
In addition to the exhibition, the Institute of Constructive Design at the Department of Architecture, together with the Forum Architektur Winterthur, is organizing a diverse supporting program with lectures and guided tours. Special emphasis will be placed on Tessenow's Winterthur student, Franz Scheibler (1898–1960), whose housing projects and buildings influenced Swiss architectural culture far beyond Winterthur.
