On The Roof!

With the exhibition ‘On The Roof! About the Changing Roof Landscape’, the ABC Architecture Centre shows that roofs – and flat roofs in particular – may offer a solution and can make an important contribution to realising the housing construction task, climate adaptation and the energy transition. The exhibition shows the roof landscape as a ‘new layer’ (also called ‘the fifth facade’). A layer that offers space for urgent urban tasks and at the same time makes an attractive living environment possible.

The exhibition shows a selection of examples of what is happening on roofs in this city, but certainly also what is being designed on roofs elsewhere in the Netherlands and abroad: from topping up to green roofs. That the roof landscape is changing is therefore abundantly clear. ‘The roof on!’ serves as inspiration: ‘it can be done this way too!’ and perhaps even for: ‘it shouldn’t be done this way…’
