Simple Green.
In cities in particular, many people lack the opportunity to get out of the confines of their homes and into the countryside in the immediate vicinity. In addition, we are increasingly confronted with the consequences of climate change, especially overheating (heat island effect), but also fine dust pollution.
The greening of the horizontal and vertical building envelope is a way to repair the existing urban landscape beyond the ground-bound green spaces. The circulating prejudices such as high production and maintenance costs are countered by relativizing, positive effects that can be proven in numbers: Green roofs and facades have an effect on the building itself as well as on the immediate surroundings. Green spaces should not be seen as a cost, but as a value factor for the health of people, the city and the environment.
The exhibition “Simply Green. Greening the City” by the Deutsches Architekturmuseum Frankfurt was adapted for Salzburg. It collects resentments against and arguments in favor of greening the building envelope and, in addition to scientific results, provides practice-oriented tips for greening existing buildings or new buildings. It sees itself as an appeal and shows concrete examples of the promotion of initiatives and the commitment of politicians to infrastructural greenery.
