Who’s Next?
The exhibition “Who’s Next”, produced by the Architekturmuseum der Technischen Universität München (Pinakothek der Moderne), presents a range of architectural approaches to provide answers to the phenomenon of homelessness.
The phenomenon of homelessness has become more widespread in slightly larger cities. In the 1970s and 1980s, there were “traditional tramps” in isolated places. They were, so to speak, regulars whose history was known to many people. This situation has changed drastically with the proliferation of drugs. The line between drug addicts and homeless people has become blurred. At the same time, with the opening of borders, begging has spread. Homelessness has become more widespread and more visible. We are facing a problem that will persist and that it is important to better understand, especially since we are faced with multiple types of homeless people with equally multiple motivations. This exhibition, shown in Munich, Hamburg and Bolzano, consists of panels, videos and models illustrating a series of examples of cities outside Europe, case studies on European territory and concludes with a view of Luxembourg. International examples – Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, Hong Kong, Munich – highlighted by the exhibition, should encourage reflection on possible solutions. Refusing a radical rejection and instead developing a nuanced sensitivity to the phenomenon is an objective. Organized by Inter-Actions Asbl, in collaboration with neimënster and Architekturmuseum der TUM, with the support of LUCA and various organizations.
Opening: 26 Nov, 6:30 p.m.
