A collaboration between S AM and the Association of Housing Cooperatives of Northwest Switzerland. Basel is one of the early centers of cooperative housing in Switzerland.

Projects such as Freidorf in Muttenz and the housing developments by Hans Bernoulli are among the defining examples of the interwar period. Later buildings, such as the Entenweid high-rises and the Vogelbach development in Riehen, also provided architectural and social impetus. Nevertheless, cooperative housing plays a subordinate role in Basel's public perception. The exhibition at S AM reconstructs this little-known history and extends it to Northwest Switzerland – on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Association of Housing Cooperatives of Northwest Switzerland. It shows how cooperative models continue to develop new answers to current housing challenges today – for example, in Erlenmatt Ost, Lysbüchel Süd, Westfeld, and other projects throughout Switzerland.
