The Museum of Architecture in Moscow is the first museum in the world dedicated to this art form. For 90 years since its foundation, the Museum has been looking for ways to talk about the complex art of architecture and make this story understandable. Over the years, the Museum has developed different approaches to presenting architecture, primarily aimed at a wide audience. This became possible due to the fact that the museum collection was replenished with exhibits of a very different nature: from the main tool of the architect - a pencil - to the author's models of buildings.

To help visitors navigate the complex world of architecture, the Museum offers to look at this art form from eight different angles. The sections of the exhibition will show architecture as an idea, as a material, as a style, as a type, as a city, as an interior, as an object of drawing and photography. In total, the exhibition will feature more than 400 items from the Museum's collection.

All possible approaches to telling a story about architecture are reflected in the dramatic history of the Sukharev Tower, with which the narrative begins. This lost Moscow monument, which can only be seen today within the walls of the museum, is presented through drawings, engravings, lithographs, reconstruction projects, photographs, documents, a model and authentic fragments of the building. The history of the Sukharev Tower flows smoothly into the first section of the exhibition – “The Museum of Ideas”. Each architectural project is, first and foremost, the idea of the author, and the museum acts as the custodian of these ideas: embodied and remaining only on paper. The visitor will be able to get acquainted with the features of the competition design, see how sketches and drafts are transformed into presentation and technical drawings, and also immerse themselves in the world of architectural fantasy.
