Russian wooden
The large-scale exhibition and educational project for the first time demonstrates the phenomenon of Russian wooden architecture in its evolution from the XV to the XXI century with the use of museum and modern materials. The first exhibition devoted to wooden architecture was held at the Museum of Architecture in 1980. Since then, a lot of monuments of Russian wooden architecture have been lost.
The exhibition, which takes place in the Enfilade of the main building, is dedicated to the history of wooden architecture. It helps to see the modifications of wooden architecture in Russia throughout history, the development of its study and how came to mind the need for its conservation, preservation and restoration. In the Ruined Wing starts the project "REVIVAL. The wooden churches of the North". It tells about wooden churches and chapels of the Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Leningrad region and Karelia.
The project «3х3» in Aptekarskiy Prikaz presents us the practice of wood construction by modern architects: Svetlana Golovinа, Nikolay Belousov and Totan Kuzembaev.
