Daily
For four years, the Chair of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Stuttgart has been researching the topic of built public space and everyday interaction in the city. References from all over the world have been collected, projects for Stuttgart designed and reflected upon with the help of texts, images and models. The participatory exhibition project "Daily - Why we need the public sphere, public space and public buildings", which can be seen at StadtPalais - Museum für Stuttgart from September 27 to October 11, 2022, conveys the spatial foundations for interaction and exchange in the city and gathers ideas and concepts for public space for this purpose.
Cities are places of diversity. This diversity is one of the keys to meeting the great challenges of humanity in a creative way. In which places does the social wealth of a city become a breeding ground for participation, design and collaboration? The exhibition project "Daily - Why we need public, public space and public buildings" makes a proposal for this as a public and inclusive building. "Täglich" is based on the research work of the Chair of Urban Planning and takes up current discourses of different disciplines. Conceptually and spatially, a place of interaction, social debate, participation and lived democracy in everyday urban life is created. A space of possibility and critical urban infrastructure emerges. The exhibition serves as a platform to bring the discourse on public buildings into the urban society. The exhibition space is usable for a broad audience. The participatory and performative concept enables direct participation in the ongoing research of the Chair of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Stuttgart.
One day, one topic: on each day of the exhibition, one aspect of the exhibition project on the topics of the public sphere, public space and public buildings is taken up and discussed with the urban society in a participatory manner. Various formats invite discussion and interaction.
